Westover has titled her book Educated, and much of her education takes place in classrooms, lectures or other university environments — but not all.

What other important moments of “education” were described in the book?  What friends, acquaintances or experiences do you think had the most impact on the author?  How would you define education, and how can you ensure that your time at UD includes learning, both in and out of the classroom?

PART A:  Essays will be judged on use of textual evidence, originality of thought and clarity of prose.  The completed essay should contain no more than 750 words, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font.  Submissions must be in PDF file format.

PART B:  Based on what you’ve read in the book, what would you like to ask the author, Tara Westover?

Prizes:  First Place = $300   Second Place = $150    Third Place = $100   Fourth Place = $50
